The „Juodasis Kalnas“ hotel was reconstructed in 2007 and is open to customers all year long. It is located at the center of Juodkrante along the shore of Curonian Lagoon, at the base of the Raganu kalnas (Hill of Withches). The idea for the hotel‘s name originated from words Juodkrante (Black shore) and hill , the name was also influenced by the picturesque local scenery.

Distance to the sea is 1200 meters and distance to the lagoon is 50 meters.

The hotel has 16 rooms, a restaurant and a terrace functioning during high season. The restaurant aims to reflect the food culture traditions of the Curonian Spit, produced according to long-known recipes of the locals. The restaurant’s menu is constantly changing, depending on the catches and seasonal delicacies caught by local fishermen that day. The restaurant is run by chef Donatas Kučikas. After studying, the Chef Accademia in Milan continued his career in Milan, Ibiza, Qatar, Switzerland and currently delights guests and locals in Juodkrante with his dishes.

There are three parking areas designated for hotel or restaurant guests’ transport beside the hotel building. The parking is free of charge.

Classic interior, antique furniture and accessories create an atmosphere of a cozy home. Works of famous Lithuanian painters are exhibited at the hotel premises. There is also a small library available. Wi-fi internet connection is provided free of charge.

Hotel rooms offer contemporary comforts and modern amenities. Satellite TV, WC, bathroom appliances, hair dryers, refrigerators and electric kettles are available.

VIP rooms have two private connected terraces. One of them has a fireplace and a dining area installed.

For the convenience of our guests we can rent bicycles, yachts and other means of transportation. We can also book tickets by customer’s request.

A breakfast buffet is available to customers in the mornings from 9.00 to 11.00 hours.

Rooms are cleaned from 12.00 to 14.00 hours.

Our guests may check in from 14.00 hours and the check out before 12.oo pm.

About Juodkrante

Juodkrante  (formerly Schwarzort ) is one of the oldest settlements in the Curonian Spit, established in the valley of parabolic dunes alongside the Curonian Lagoon, 18 kilometers away from Klaipeda. It is a historical – urbanistic reservation area extending for 2 kilometers along the lagoon shore.

There is a yacht dock and a Stone sculptures park along the shore.

The Hill of Witches is a point of interest, that Juodkrante’s residents take pride in. It is a 42 meters high dune with its famous folk art sculpture park created from contributions of more than a hundred folk artists. Most of the sculptures embody various heroes of Lithuanian folklore and mythology.

Juodkrante is one of the most universal yachting areas in entire Lithuania. People can enjoy wind surfing and power kiting both in the lagoon and in the sea area besides a small life-saving station.

There is a colony of grey herons and cormorants visiting Juodkrante. It is being observed since the beginning of the 19th century.

There is a Nagliu natural reservation area near Juodkrante, it is being famous for it’s government protected Grey dunes (more often called Dead dunes). When observed from the opposite side of the lagoon, they look very dark, therefore the name of the village is Juodkrante (which means: “black shore”).

Juodkrante became famous as a tourist resort in 1840 when steamboats from Klaipeda (formerly Memel) and later from Tilsit started visiting its shores.

In the beginning of the 20th century first hotels, villas, summerhouses, restaurants and shops were established in Juodkrante, and it became an urban type settlement type summer resort.

Other settlements, towns and cities located beside the Curonian Lagoon: Dreverna, Kintai, Klaipeda, Luzgaliai, Nida, Pervalka, Preila, Sturmai, Vente.
